Ian is an expedition leader, naturalist, photographer, guide, drone pilot, skipper and scuba diver. He has been very fortunate to be part of numerous expeditions and scientific projects all over the globe allowing him to expand his knowledge of the natural world from pole to pole, and just about everywhere in between.
Born in Mid Coast Maine but raised in the Far Northeast Coast of Australia, he benefited from an adventurous childhood in the outdoors that appears to have had a rather lasting effect. After graduating with a degree in Psychology/Biology and altogether too many Minors (Astronomy, History and Environmental Studies), he thought working at sea might be a fun summer job. Over a decade later, with many years having more days spent in the field than not, he has happily found himself a professional niche at the edges of the map. He prefers the term migratory rather than nomadic and has several very organized duffel bags prepacked for wherever he might be off to next.
